KATHMANDU, Feb 5: Rabi Lamichhane, chairman of Rastriya Swatantra Party, finds himself in a tight spot after being found guilty by the court in a citizenship-related case and subsequently dismissed as an MP and a minister.

A joint meeting of the Central Committee of the RSP and the Parliamentary Party is being held today, warning that they will quit the government if they do not get the Ministry of Home Affairs. The meeting began at 11AM in the party office. The RSP meeting was also held last night. But after the meeting was inconclusive, the meeting was held again today. The leaders of RSP said that today's meeting may be extended and if the meeting is extended, the party’s MPs will not attend the parliament meeting.

According to Biraj Bhakta Shrestha, the deputy parliamentary party leader of RSP, today's meeting will decide whether to stay in the government. The RSP’s meeting held on Thursday gave Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal a two-day ultimatum to take a decision on the party's demand for the home ministry. The ultimatum expired yesterday at midnight.
