KATHMANDU, Jan 7: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has called for the formation of a parliamentary probe committee to investigate the alleged irregularities surrounding the widebody aircraft deal.
During a session of the International Relations and Tourism Committee of the House of Representatives, RSP lawmaker Shishir Khanal raised the issue, highlighting the ongoing corruption allegations. He referred to a confession by a British citizen of Nepali descent, who admitted to paying Rs 330 million to Nepali officials in the US.

Khanal said that, while the Nepali authorities had filed a case and the Special Court had issued a verdict, questions have been raised regarding the investigation and the role of the officials involved.
Given these concerns, Khanal urged the committee to form an independent inquiry committee to thoroughly investigate the matter.
“This issue of an independent investigation is crucial, especially since the Special Court has raised doubts about the body responsible for the inquiry,” he said, “We should form a committee to properly examine the recent developments.”
RSP leaders mentioned that the demand was discussed within the party prior to Khanal’s call for an inquiry during Tuesday’s meeting.
