Rs. 1.5 million allocated for former bonded laborers’ education

TULSIPUR, Jan 1: The Lumbini provincial government has allocated Rs. 1.5 million for the scholarship to the children of freed Kamlari in Lamahi, Dang. The allocation is being made in order to address the problems in the education of the former bonded laborers.

TULSIPUR, Jan 1: The Lumbini provincial government has allocated Rs. 1.5 million for the scholarship to the children of freed Kamlari in Lamahi, Dang. The allocation is being made in order to address the problems in the education of the former bonded laborers.


Minister for Health, Population and Family Welfare Indrajit Chaudhary said that the budget has been allocated by the Lumbini provincial government. Earlier, the former Kamlari students had to drop out of school due to lack of financial reasons.

Tharu leader Madhav Raj Chaudhary said that the problem arose due to lack of coordination among the three levels of governments. He said that it would be easier to educate children of former bonded laborers as the provincial government has allocated the budget.
