KATHMANDU, Dec 9: The Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) has urged the government to initiate a fresh national agreement involving the monarchy, political parties and the Gen Z generation ahead of the upcoming elections.

Addressing an exhibition and mass gathering organized by RPP in Kathmandu on Tuesday, party Chair Rajendra Lingden said Prime Minister Sushila Karki must take the lead in forging a new consensus among the three forces, arguing that the country cannot move forward without such an understanding.

Lingden accused the major parties of dismissing earlier calls for a new arrangement between the monarchy and political forces. “We warned that the country was heading toward disaster, asked you to build a new understanding between the King and the parties, but you laughed it off,” he said. “But remember—if you do not correct yourselves, a day will come when you will have to flee.”

He argued that elections held under the current political structure and governance model, will not provide a national way out. According to him, conducting elections under the same political system would merely postpone the crisis rather than resolve it.

Lingden stressed that the Gen Z movement is not about hastening elections or replacing one leader with another, but about demanding structural change and creating a country where young people can build a future. He urged the prime minister to convene an all-party dialogue bringing together the monarchy, political parties and Gen Z activists to establish a new national understanding before the polls.
