KATHMANDU, July 18: Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) on Thursday formally urged the Department of Money Laundering Investigation (DMLI) to investigate the assets of Nepal’s high-level political and administrative leadership accumulated after the 1990 political change.
Submitting a memorandum to DMLI Director General Suman Dahal at the DoLMI’s office in Harihar Bhawan, a delegation led by RPP Chairman Rajendra Lingden demanded a thorough investigation into what it described as unexplained or disproportionate wealth amassed by top leaders over the past three decades.

The RPP has long advocated for stronger checks on corruption and asset transparency in the political class. This is the first time any political party has officially submitted a formal request to the anti-money laundering body to launch such a probe.
RPP Spokesperson Mohan Shrestha said that RPP’s initiative reflects the party’s commitment to accountability and clean governance. “This is a historic and courageous step. No other political party has taken such an initiative, and it shows that RPP is serious about fighting corruption at the highest levels,” he said.
The RPP has made transparency and anti-corruption one of its key political agendas and reiterated that it will continue to push for reforms aimed at restoring public trust in politics and governance.
