KATHMANDU, Oct 25: Indian captain Rohit Sharma has smashed his 33rd century in One Day International (ODI) cricket in the ongoing match against Australia in Sydney, steering India to the brink of victory.
Chasing a target of 237 runs, India posted 231 for 1 in 38 overs at the time of reporting, needing just 6 runs to win. Sharma and Virat Kohli are firmly settled at the crease, batting confidently.

Earlier, Shubman Gill, who opened the innings with Sharma, was dismissed for 24 by Josh Hazlewood.
Kohli also achieved a significant milestone during the match. By scoring 54 runs, he surpassed former Sri Lankan captain Kumar Sangakkara’s 14,234 runs to become the second-highest run-scorer in ODI history. Only Sachin Tendulkar, with 18,426 runs, remains ahead of him.
Winning the toss and electing to bat first, Australia were bowled out for 236 in 46.4 overs. Despite being in a strong position at 183 for 3, their batting lineup crumbled, losing the last seven wickets for just 53 runs.
For India, Harshit Rana delivered an impressive bowling performance, taking 4 wickets, while Washington Sundar picked up 2 wickets.
Australia have already clinched the three-match ODI series 2–0, but India look set to secure a consolation win with this commanding performance.
