Saying that the problem is not with plastic but its management, FNCCI said the private sector is aware of environment conservation.

FNCCI has requested concerned stakeholders to rethink the decision as it affects plastic manufacturing factories which are employing thousands of people and where billions of rupees have been invested.

The apex body of Nepali private sector said abrupt closure of plastic manufacturing factories will create negative impact on national economy as a whole.

"The government should provide enough time for the factories to find alternative or provide compensate for them for the loss that they will incur due to the decision," FNCCI said in a statement.
