Cancer Care Research Center wins corporate kite flying competition in Nagarkot

KATHMANDU, Sept 29: Cancer Care Research Center has won the Republica Changa Chait (Corporate Kite Flying Competition) organized by Nepal Republic Media on Saturday at Club Himalaya Nagarkot in Bhaktapur.

The team of Saroj Basnet and Kajal Khadka from Cancer Care Research Center secured the first position in the competition organized on the occasion of Dashain festival, in partnership with Club Himalaya Nagarkot.

Likewise, Tusar Panta and Alok Neupane’s team, representing Sun and Fun Holidays, bagged the second position. Amit Pradhan from Khempelung Adventures secured the third position.

A total of 14 corporate teams had participated in the competition. MAW Pvt Ltd, Siddhartha Bank Ltd, NCC Bank Ltd, Ghorahi Cement Industry Pvt Ltd, Honda, Hilltake Industries Pvt Ltd, Panchakanya Group, Jawalakhel Group of Companies, BMW, CG, and Mercantile were other corporate houses participating in the competition.

The first winning team bagged roundtrip air ticket to Bangkok, while the second winner received two-night stay at Mount Glory Forest Resort and Spa in Pokhara. The third winner won bed-and-breakfast voucher in Pokhara Lakeside Retreat. The winners were provided various other gift hampers also.

Similarly, Club Himalaya defeated NRM in the friendly match.

Matka Breaking Contest, Beer Bong Competition, and musical concert were the other events held on the occasion.

The Republica Changa Chait was inaugurated by Anuradha Koirala, the Governor of Province 3, by writing a message on a kite.

“Education to each girl child will end violence of girl child and women. Human trafficking is a shame to humanity. Let’s join hand and end this heinous crime,” she wrote in the kite.

Also speaking at the event, NRM CEO Sambridhi Gyawali said that the kite flying competition was organized to carry forward our tradition of kite flying.

NRM, through annual program of Nagarik Nayak, not only recognizes outstanding heroes for their selfless and noble contribution to the society, but also provides platform to others to encourage them to follow the suit.

Yogendra Shakya, chairman of Club Himalaya Nagarkot, highlighted the cultural importance of flying kites during Dashain festival.

Over a hundred participants including leaders from political parties and private sector, artists, and sportspersons participated in the event.
