In a message, delivered on the occasion of the seventh anniversary of the day when parliament declared Nepal free from untouchability, Chairman Regmi said the ill practices of untouchability and discrimination based on caste had come down sharply in recent days due to growing awareness and legal and constitutional measures against such practice. “But since the minimization of this wrong practice alone is a subject to be satisfied with, all must have a resolve to completely stop untouchability and discrimination,” he said.
While assuring that the government would fully mobilize all mechanisms from center to local level to thwart such practice, Regmi has mentioned that government had taken various positive measures, including amendments in the existing discriminatory laws to abolish untouchability practice in the country. Regmi has wished that the day that announced Nepal a country free from untouchability would promote mutual cooperation, help, love and unity among all people of the country.
