KATHMANDU, July 24: Chairman of the Interim Election Council Khila Raj Regmi has warned of action against those who fail to make tangible progress in works related to rebuilding the newly-expanded roads of the Kathmandu Valley by August 15.

Regmi has asked concerned authorities to focus on patching potholes, building pavements, arranging pipes of drinking water and sewage system, managing wires that are dangling everywhere and gravelling damaged roads. [break]

At a meeting held in his office to review the progress made in works related to reconstruction of the widened roads on Wednesday, Regmi asked all concerned authorities to be more serious about problems caused by the delay in reconstruction of the newly widened roads. He also expressed dissatisfaction over the sluggish pace of construction works.

Regmi asked concerned authorities to divide the expanded roads in different sections and coordinate the rebuilding efforts.

At the meeting, Finance Minister Shankar Koirala expressed his commitment that the works related to rebuilding of the expanded roads will not be delayed.
