KATHMANDU, June 3: Royal Challengers Bengaluru have lifted their first-ever Indian Premier League (IPL) title, securing a thrilling six-run victory over Punjab Kings in the final held on Tuesday.
Chasing a target of 191 runs set by Bengaluru, Punjab managed 184 for 7 in their allotted 20 overs. Despite a spirited knock from Shashank Singh, who remained unbeaten on 61 off 30 balls and smashed three sixes and a four in the final over, Punjab fell short by six runs.

Earlier, Bengaluru, after losing the toss and being sent to bat, posted 190 runs for the loss of 9 wickets. Virat Kohli top-scored with 43 runs, while skipper Rajat Patidar added 26. Other key contributions came from Liam Livingstone (25), and both Mayank Agarwal and Jitesh Sharma chipped in with 24 runs each.
On the bowling front, Punjab’s Arshdeep Singh took 3 wickets for 40 runs, and Kyle Jamieson also claimed 3 wickets conceding 48. Azmatullah Omarzai, Vijaykumar Vyshak, and Yuzvendra Chahal took a wicket apiece.
With this win, Bengaluru finally ended their 18-year wait for an IPL trophy.
