KATHMANDU, May 24: In the Indian Premier League (IPL) match on Friday, Sunrisers Hyderabad defeated RCB by 42 runs to register a big victory. Batting first, Sunrisers scored 231 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in 20 overs, with Ishan Kishan playing a strong innings.
In response, Phil Salt and Virat Kohli gave RCB a great start, but the bowlers dismissed the team for 189 runs in 19.5 overs. Although RCB had already qualified for the playoffs, this defeat hurt their chances of securing a top-two spot.

Kohli and Salt shared an 80-run partnership for the first wicket to give the team a solid start. After Kohli got out, Salt took charge and scored a half-century. However, once Salt was dismissed, RCB's innings faltered, and the team started losing wickets at regular intervals. Led by Pat Cummins, the Sunrisers bowlers staged a strong comeback. Ishan Malinga stood out by taking wickets of explosive batsmen like Romario Shepherd and Tim David.
Salt scored 62 runs off 32 balls, hitting four fours and five sixes, while Kohli made 43 runs off 25 balls with seven fours and one six. No other RCB batsman managed a significant innings.
Rajat Patidar contributed 18 runs, and Jitesh Sharma added 24 runs. The RCB lower order performed poorly, with four batsmen failing to reach double figures and two failing to score.
Cummins took three wickets for the Sunrisers, while Malinga claimed two. Jaydev Unadkat, Harshal Patel, Harshal Dubey, and Nitish Kumar Reddy each took one wicket.
