Although there were concerns that the formation of a new party as independent could cause problems for independent candidates, the EC decided to register the party saying that the word ‘independent’ does not violate conditions set by the EC for the registration of a new political party.

The new party has received ‘bell’ as its election symbol from the EC. NIP Coordinator Lamichhane has announced his intention to contest in the upcoming federal election scheduled for November this year.
