Rautahat Premier League from Sept 17

KATHMANDU, July 21: Lalitpur’s Omega Secondary School is set to organize the Rautahat Premier League (RPL) at the Sugar Mills Ground in Garuda, Rautahat from September 17 to 26. 

Speaking at a press meet in Kathmandu on Friday, the organizers said that the RPL was not devised as a commercial event and has been created more for the purpose of extending opportunities for young and aspiring cricketers.

They also said that many experienced regional and national players who have already represented Nepal in many international cricket games will grace the tournament.

A total of 12 teams will feature in the T20 tournament from the Province 2.

The participating teams will be divided into four groups with three teams each. The winner and the runner-up of each group will advance into the quarterfinals.

The departmental teams Tribhuvan Army Club (TAC), Nepal Police Club (NPC) including the host Omega, HCA, Nexus Cricket Academy, Rautahat Cricket, Lions Youth Club, Oasis, Royal PC Fighter, Malpokhari Cricket Club, Mahakali Cricket Club and Nepal Cricket School will be taking part in the tournament. 

The winner of the tournament will take home Rs 350,000, while the runner-up will be rewarded with Rs 150,000. Likewise, the man of the series will bag a purse of Rs 25,000, while the best batsman, the best bowler and the emerging player will be given Rs 10,000 each. 

Also, the highest six and four hitter will be rewarded with Rs 8,000 each, while the each man-of-the-match will win Rs 2,000 each. 

The registration fee of the tournament is Rs 35,000.
