RAUTAHAT, July 15: Normal life in Rautahat and surrounding areas has come to a standstill following incessant rainfall since the last few days, which has triggered massive floods in rivers like Bagmati, Lal Bakaiya, Jhajh, Lamaha, Chani and Tarahari.
RAUTAHAT, July 13: Former Prime Minister and senior leader of ruling Nepal Communist Party Madhav Kumar Nepal's home in Rautahat has been flooded following heavy rainfalls in the district for the past three days.
RAUTAHAT, Feb 27: Primary investigation shows that the truck’s driver, Parlahad Thapaliya from Nijgadh, Bara driving under the influence and lost control in a turn – thereby hitting the school bus and injuring nine, including six children.
RAUTAHAT, Jan 31: The District Forest Office (DFO), Rautahat has tightened security along the national forest areas following repeated complaints from the locals regarding increasing number of cases of timber smuggling. With this, the DFO has been successful in seizing more than 200 cubic feet of logs and many vehicles used for smuggling purpose in the last one week.

RAUTAHAT, Nov 12: A gang of thieves stole goods and cash worth Rs 2 million from four houses in Rautahat on Saturday night. The theft took place in Harshaha Tol of Katahariya Municipality 4. The group of thieves, who still remain unidentified, broke into the four houses by digging tunnels.
RAUTAHAT, Oct 13: Police in Rautahat district on Friday arrested six individuals including four Indian nationals in possession of Chinese pistols and their magazines.A police team on a regular patrol had arrested the six from the Nepal-India border. According to police, the police team led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Krishna Kumar Basnet from the District Police Office (DPO) caught them from the no man's land near Paroha Municipality-8, Motipur while they were smoking hashish.
KATHMANDU, Sept 24: Samjhana Das, 18, one of the two sisters who was undergoing treatment after an acid attack, has died on Sunday night in Kirtipur Hospital at 11:40 PM after infections spread to other parts of the body, Dr. Surendra Basnet said.
KATHMANDU, Sept 24: On August 25, four people died when a boat carrying 27 people capsized after hitting the pillar of a half-done bridge over the Lalbakaiya River in Rautahat. The contractor of the bridge had left the bridge construction work incomplete for years and the locals were forced to use boats to cross the river, so the public blamed the contractor, Pappu Construction, for the deaths.
RAUTAHAT, Sept 21: Two new cases of rape have been revealed in Rautahat district of tarai. Two rape cases were reported last week while the two new cases were reported in the district in last two days.
RAUTAHAT, Sept 20: Police on Tuesday arrested a person on the charge of attacking two teenage girls of Rautahat with acid, two weeks ago. The arrested person happens to be a neighbor of the victims, who was reportedly wooing one of the girls.
RAUTAHAT, Sept 2: The residents of a village in Rautahat have been forced to stay awake at night due to the fear of flood. The people of Badharwa village which is on the western bank of the Bagmati River have been staying awake all night due to the fear of flood. The members of about 300 households in Bhagwati Rural Municipality-5 have been staying in the dam throughout the night for many years now during the monsoon season.
RAUTAHAT, Aug 29: Ex-lawmaker Satya Narayan Bhagat and Kishor Chanau, a neighbor of one of the persons killed in Saturday's boat capsize in Lalbakaiya River, have filed separate complaints with government authorities Tuesday demanding action against Harinarayan Prasad Rauniyar, the civil contractor of the under-construction bridge over the river.
RAUTAHAT, Aug 27: Locals have accused Pappu Construction for Saturday’s boat capsize in Lalbakaiya River of Rautahat. At least two people were killed and three are missing. Locals said the contractor’s failure to complete the construction of a bridge over the Lalbakaiya River on time forced people to use boat to cross the river so the contractor was also responsible for the accident.
RAUTAHAT, Aug 27: On Saturday, Dinesh Patel of Gaur Municipality-4, Rautahat, was preparing for Rakshya Bandhan, the festival which celebrates the bond and trust between brothers and sisters. He was waiting for his sister Runadevi to return to her maternal home from Ishnath Municipality-3, which is around four kilometers away. She had set off for her maternal home on Saturday evening with her youngest son.
RATUTAHAT, Aug 26: Total 21 people were rescued whereas, five are still missing after a boat capsized in the swollen Lalbakaiya River in Rautahat, Saturday evening. Searching operation of those missing has been intensified witrh the help of security personnel and locals informed local administration.
RAUTAHAT, July 8: An unidentified group shot a gun and nabbed a motorcycle, cash and a mobile of Kishor Sah Kanu. Sanu, a resident of Suwarna rural municipality-8 of Bara was shot near Lalbakhaiya river bank in Dewahi Gonahi municipality-4 of the district.
RAUTAHAT, July 1: With the start of monsoon, locals of dozens of villages prone to floods in Rautahat are in a state of constant fear. As more than two dozen places from where the Bagmati and Lalbakaiya rivers breached their embankments are yet to be repaired, the locals are now panicked that the massive floods like last year will repeat this year also.
RAUTAHAT, May 27: Nepal Police has nabbed three Indian security personnel and an Indian citizen for illegally entering Nepal to arrest a Nepali entrepreneur. They were detained while returning to India with the arrested person from Gaur’s border point in Rautahat district on Saturday. Police also impounded a jeep used by the Indian police.

But unfortunately, all health posts of the district are currently dealing with the scarcity of Jeevan Jal, the most popular brand of Oral Rehydration Salts (ORS) in the country. This has added to the woes of the patients.
RAUTAHAT, Jan 18: With the death of three more people including a newborn in Rautahat, the toll of people dying of cold has climbed to 23 in the district. People, especially of the Tarai belt, have lost their lives in the last one month due to the harsh winter.
RAUTAHAT, Dec 14: Even though the parliamentary and provincial elections were largely peaceful, incidents of crime and violence have increased noticeably in various parts of Rautahat after the polls, it has been observed.
