Rape-convicted prisoner escapes from Koshi Hospital

KATHMANDU, Aug 1: A prisoner who was serving a jail term after being convicted of rape escaped from the Koshi Hospital. He was admitted to the hospital due to some health condition.

KATHMANDU, Aug 1: A prisoner who was serving a jail term after being convicted of rape escaped from the Koshi Hospital. He was admitted to the hospital due to some health condition. 


Aryan Mohamed Ahmed Khan, a 24-year-old from Biratnagar Metropolitan City -8, serving a prison sentence at the Morang District Jail for rape has escaped from Koshi Hospital.

According to Acting Jailer Tulsi Poudel of the Morang District Jail, Ahmed complained of suffering from stomach pain and was admitted to Koshi Hospital for treatment on Tuesday. 


According to the police, he fled from the hospital at around 5:15 AM on Thursday. The police reported that he managed to escape while fighting violently with the officers stationed to keep an eye on him during a visit to the restroom.


Considering the possibility that he might flee to India, surveillance along the Nepal-India border has been increased.


In the rape case, the Morang District Court sentenced Ahmed to 12 years in prison and a fine of 500,000 rupees on 13 March, 2023. According to the court's decision, he is set to be released from prison only in February 2035.
