Today, it’s commonplace for actors to back the films they act in as producers. Actors like John Abraham and Akshay Kumar became flag-bearers of the trend when they started doing this back in the previous decade. With time, more and more actors joined the fray, so much so that even the leading ladies jumped on to the bandwagon. Most of them made for successful film producers who backed strong and stirring content.

Rajkummar Rao, one of the most successful actors in Bollywood today, has stayed away from backing a film as a producer. When we asked him about it, he said, “I’m not so good with handling money matters. I am not sure if I can handle that, so even if I decide to produce a film, I will need a team to look into the monetary aspect of it. I love doing creative work and I will probably involve myself with that -- creating characters and stories. It comes naturally to me.”

The actor is known for his performances in films like Shahid, City Lights, Stree, Trapped, Bareilly Ki Barfi, Aligarh, Newton and Kai Po Che. We wonder if creating stories and characters hints at his aspiration to write a film. When we brought it up, Rajkummar said, “I do write stories but screenwriting is a different game altogether. I write short stories and pen my thoughts as and when. I have not given screen-writing any thought.”
