KATHMANDU, Oct 25: Veteran politician Rajendra Mahato has submitted an application to the Election Commission for the registration of a new political party.
Mahato, who left the Loktantrik Samajwadi Party (LSP) led by Mahantha Thakur, has been active for some time in the Rastriya Mukti Abhiyan (national liberation campaign). Leader Keshab Jha confirmed that they submitted an application to the EC on Friday for the registration of the Rastriya Mukti Party Nepal under the leadership of Mahato.

According to Jha, they have proposed ‘fish’ as the party’s election symbol. Mahato left the LSP in February.
Mahato, who was previously active in Madhesh-based political parties, is preparing to establish this party as a national party. He was earlier associated with Nepal Sadbhavana Party (Anandi Devi), Rastriya Janata Party, Janata Samajwadi Party, Loktantrik Samajwadi Party.
