KATHMANDU, Dec 24: CPN-UML MP Laxmi Mahato Koiri has submitted an application letter to the Federal Parliament Secretariat demanding that his suspension be lifted.
Koiri, elected from Mahottari-1, is currently suspended due to accusations of murdering Assistant Sub-inspector Thaman Bishwakarma during the Madhesh movement.
Are Police Defying Home Minister’s Orders?
Mahato is accused of dragging the policeman from a police van and killing him on September 11, 2015.
Dhanusha District Court had freed Mahato on bail of Rs 100,000. However, the Janakpur High Court issued an arrest warrant against him after overturning the district court's decision on a case related to the Madhesh movement.
On December 14, after the Mahottari District Court acquitted him in the Thaman BK murder case, MP Koiri wrote an application letter to the Federal Parliament Secretariat, asking for the lifting of his suspension and the service facilities he has received so far.
Acting General Secretary of the Federal Parliament Padam Prasad Pandey confirmed the receipt of MP Koiri's letter. “The letter has been received, it is in the process of a decision,” he said.
