KATHMANDU, May 12: The weather in Nepal is currently under the sway of western and local winds, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (DHM), under the Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD).
Additionally, the weather is partially affected by moisture-laden winds entering from the Arabian Sea.
Thunderstorms likely in five provinces

On Monday, partly to generally cloudy conditions are expected in the hilly regions including Koshi Province, while the rest of the country will enjoy mainly fair to partly cloudy skies. There is a possibility of light rain with thunder and lightning at a few places in the hilly regions of Koshi and Gandaki provinces, and at one or two places in other hilly areas. Light rain or snowfall is also likely at one or two places in the high hilly and mountainous regions of the country.
In the last 24 hours, 39.2 millimeters of rainfall was recorded in Pakhribas of Dhankuta. Similarly, Baglung received 27.8 mm, Bandipur 16.8 mm, Hetauda in Makwanpur 14.4 mm, Chandragadhi in Jhapa 12 mm, and Syangja recorded 8.6 mm of rainfall.
