Opening the workshop, Niko Manos Wieland, Chief of Communication and Advocacy at UNICEF Malaysia, highlighted the media’s role in ensuring that children are represented responsibly and meaningfully in storytelling.
The workshop covers children’s rights, privacy, protection and digital safety, as well as ethical storytelling, digital media consumption and emerging approaches to children’s media.
Led by South Korean media researcher and trainer Dr Youngyiil Kim, the programme includes practical sessions and country-sharing discussions on children’s programming and media policies.
The workshop aims to equip media professionals with practical tools to produce content that respects children’s rights and dignity while giving them a safe and meaningful voice. It will conclude on October 8.
