KATHMANDU, April 16: Several hilly regions across the country are likely to experience rain accompanied by storms for the next three days. 

According to the Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD) under the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, the influence of westerly winds and local winds is currently prevailing in Nepal.

According to the meteorological bulletin issued by the MFD earlier at 6 am, currently the weather is mostly clear in the hilly areas of the country, including Sudurpaschim, Karnali and Lumbini provinces, while the remaining areas are partly cloudy.

According to the MFD, the weather will remain partly cloudy to mostly clear in the hilly areas of the country this afternoon. Light to moderate rain with thunder/lightning is likely at few places over hilly areas of the country. Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and some places of Sudurpaschim province and few places in the rest of the province are likely to experience wind. There is a possibility of light snowfall at few places in the high hilly and mountainous regions of the country.

Similarly, the weather will remain partly cloudy to mostly clear in the hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces tonight, the MFD said.

Light to moderate rain with thunder/lightning at few places in hilly areas of Koshi region and light rain with thunder/lightning at few places in hilly areas of Bagmati and Gandaki region. According to the MFD, there is a possibility of light snowfall at one or two places in the high hills and mountainous areas of Koshi, Gandaki and Karnali provinces.

On Wednesday afternoon, Koshi province is likely to experience partly cloudy weather, while the rest of the region will see mainly clear conditions. There is a possibility of light rain with thunder/lightning in certain hilly areas of Koshi province, alongside gusty winds in few places of the Terai region, including Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim.

During Wednesday night, the country is expected to maintain a partly cloudy to mostly clear outlook, with a chance of light rain and thunderstorms in parts of Koshi and Gandaki provinces.

On Thursday afternoon, partly cloudy weather conditions will be experienced in the hilly areas of the country including Koshi province and partly cloudy in the rest of the country. There is a possibility of light rain with thunder/lightning at one or two places in hilly areas of Koshi, Gandaki and Karnali provinces. There is a chance of rain and snowfall at one or two places in the high hills and mountainous areas of Koshi, Gandaki and Karnali provinces.

In Thursday night, the weather is expected to be partly cloudy to mostly clear skies nationwide, with the possibility of light rain and thunderstorms in select hilly areas of Koshi, Gandaki, and Karnali provinces, along with a chance of light snowfall in certain high-altitude regions of Gandaki and Karnali provinces.
