Rabi Lamichhane to remain in custody for five days

KATHMANDU, Aug 16: District Court Chitwan has allowed police to keep three arrestees including Rabi Lamichhane in custody for five days for further investigation.

KATHMANDU, Aug 16: District Court Chitwan has allowed police to keep three arrestees including Rabi Lamichhane in custody for five days for further investigation. 


Rabi Lamichhane, a television presenter, journalist Yubraj Kandel and nurse from Okhaldhunga Asmita Karki had been arrested from Kathmandu on Thursday in connection with an apparent suicide of journalist Shalikram Pudasaini.

They were presented before the court on Friday. 


A single bench of Judge at Chitwan District Court Binod Kumar Gautam allowed detention of those three for an investigation into the accusations of Lamichhane’s ex-colleague Salikram Pudasaini's suicide.


According to the police sources, Lamichhane had been arrested after getting the information that the contents of the program “Sidha Kura Janta Sanga” are liable to affect the investigation process.
