In connection with the funds embezzlement case related to Supreme Cooperative, Rupandehi District Court had previously ordered Lamichhane to post a bail of Rs 10 million. Challenging the bail amount and seeking release on general date, Lamichhane had approached the Butwal bench on March 10.

However, the bench issued a ruling on April 5 to remand him in custody. Lamichhane was arrested shortly after the court's decision and is currently in police custody.
