Quake death toll reaches 18 in Okhaldhunga

OKHALDHUNGA, April 30: The death toll caused by the devastating earthquake that rocked the country on Saturday has reached 18 in the district after octogenerian was killed yesterday.

87-year-old Fulmati Sarki, who was staying in the ramshackle house after being hit by Saturday's quake, got killed after the house caved in yesterday, informed Ganesh Prasad Bhattarai, Chief District Officer of Okhaldhunga district.


The Natural Disaster Rescue Committee (NDRC) has decided to provide Rs 40,000 to Fulmati's family.

Earlier, the NDRC had doled out Rs 40,000 to each family of the people who lost their lives in the devastating earthquake.

As many as 50 VDCs including Siddhicharan Municipality have been badly battered by the earthquake.
