Okhaldhunga landslide death toll reaches four

OKHALDHUNGA, June 23: The number of people dying in a landslide in Okhaldhunga has reached four after the bodies of two missing people were recovered.


Two persons were killed and two others were missing in a landslide that occurred on Thursday night following incessant rainfall. The landslide swept away the house of Ran Bahadur Gurung of Champadevi Rural Municipality-8.

Ran Bahadur, 36, and his wife Shiva Maya, 29, their 10-year-old son Dinesh and 18 months old daughter, Kritika, were killed in the landslide. 


The bodies of Ran Bahadur and his wife were found in the morning while locals and security personnel retrieved the bodies of Dinesh and Kritika from landslide debris, said Police Inspector at the District Police Office, Devendra Das. 


The landslide also swept away the houses of Bal Bahadur Gurung and Jarsingh Gurung.
