Qatar Appellate Court okays death penalty to Nepali

DOHA, Qatar, June 8: The Appellate Court here has okayed the death penalty given to a Nepali working in Qatar.



A local court in Qatar had given capital punishment to two Indian nationals and 44-year-old Nepali named Chandra Shekhar Yadav of Bolaha-7, Siraha of Nepal.



The Supreme Court in Qatar had returned the case to the Appellate Court for the reconsideration.



Giving its verdict, the Appellate Court gave consent to the decision of the local court to sentence the Nepali national to death, said the Nepali Embassy.



Chandra Shekhar would be given a right to appeal to the Supreme Court again, said the Embassy adding, as the case goes back there from the Appellate Court.



Chandra Shekhar and the Indian nationals- Unni Krishna Mahadevan and Moni Kandhan Shreedharan- were delivered verdict of death sentence for their involvement in the murder of a 30-year-old Indonesian woman after illicit relation.
