KATHMANDU, March 23: Deputy General Secretary of the CPN (Maoist Center) and former finance minister Barshman Pun, who is undergoing treatment in China, had a telephone conversation with Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba.

According to his secretariat, Pun spoke with Dahal on Monday and with Deuba on Tuesday. Leader Pun congratulated Prime Minister Dahal for getting the vote of confidence by almost two-thirds of the members of parliament.

With both the leaders, he said that the government and ruling alliance should move forward with the aim of political stability, protection of the constitution and establishment of good governance, development and prosperity according to the people's wishes.

"The people are not so much interested in who becomes the prime minister and who becomes the minister," Pun said according to the information provided by Pun's secretariat.

Pun expressed his happiness that the parties which went to the people with the same agenda in the House of Representatives and provincial assembly elections, were living together in the same place and that it was a respect for public opinion. He mentioned that the parties of the two major leaders should cooperate for the next five years.

"The coming together of the NC and the Maoist Center is a respect to the voters who voted for the coalition parties in the election," Pun said to Deuba, "To make this a success, the two leaders and the parties had to move forward by putting the people at the center."

In response, Deuba said that they will assure that the alliance lasts for five years. “This alliance will definitely last for five years. Don't worry. We will create an atmosphere of mutual trust between the two leaders,” said Deuba. Both Dahal and Deuba wished Pun a speedy recovery and a safe return to the country soon.
