PU holds sixth convocation ceremony

ITAHARI, Oct.3: Prime Minister and Chancellor of Purbanchal University (PU) Dr Baburam Bhattarai has said that although a huge budget is invested in education sector, production of quality and skilled human resource has not been possible due to many reasons.



Attending the sixth convocation ceremony of the University at Goghgaun of Indrapur, Morang district on Wednesday in the capacity of the University Chancellor, the Prime Minister stressed that now educated class should gear up for building the nation and sought ending of the strike culture in the education sector.



On the occasion, the Prime Minister conferred graduation certificates on the students completing bachelor´s and master´s degree from the University.



Problems in the education sector could not be resolved by imprisoning University and college office bearers, he added.



Stating that Nepal is rich in natural resources and herbs, PM Bhattarai stressed the need of utilizing such assets in the promotion of country´s tourism and boosting up nation´s economy.



Also speaking on the occasion, culture expert Satya Mohan Joshi said although Nepal is rich in cultural diversity, it could not be utilized for the sake of the promotion of cultural tourism.



On the occasion, 7,000 students under the university received graduation certificate and toppers of different colleges were awarded.



The University Governing Council has approved a budget of Rs. 598 million along with policy and programmes of the University today.



The Prime Minister was greeted with black flags by cadres of CPN (UML)-affiliated Youth Association at Itahari, Sunsari while he was on the way to the capital.
