KATHMANDU, May 2: The government has decided to tighten traffic flow in various districts, including in the Valley from today, as coronavirus infection surges sharply.
A meeting of the COVID-19 Crisis Management Center (CCMC) held on Saturday has decided to operate the branches of banks and financial institutions with one-fourth staff in the Valley and major cities where the prohibitory order has been issued since Sunday.
Apart from essential services, other offices have been ordered to run with a quarter of their staff, and the movement of media personnel has also been limited. Only those who have press passes issued by the Department of Information and Broadcasting in the Valley, and in other districts by the Chief District Officers will be recognized from today.
Employees and workers have been asked to run industries and businesses by providing accommodation and food within their compound. Industries that manufacture necessary materials, including masks, sanitizers, soaps, gloves, oxygen for the prevention, control and treatment of COVID-19 have been asked to operate in compliance with the set health protocols. “Operation of vehicles will be allowed on the basis of the identity card issued by the project, clearly stating the origin and destination of the drivers and assistants transporting construction materials,” the decision said.
