KATHMANDU, May 28: Prohibitory orders in the Kathmandu Valley will be tightened further from today with heavy amounts of cash fines to violators.
Issuing separate notices, the local administrations in the Kathmandu Valley have announced to slap a cash fine of up to Rs 500,000 and a jail term of one year to those who violate prohibitory orders enforced by the government.

From today, department stores and retail stores will remain closed for a week of extended prohibitory period. Shops selling fresh vegetables, milk and medicine will be allowed to open till 9 AM.
The DAOs have announced that if individuals who do not follow safety protocols as defined in the ordinance will be slapped a maximum of Rs 300,000 fines or imprisonment of six months or both, according to the notice.
In case an individual breaches any clause of the ordinance, the government authorities concerned will charge a cash fine of Rs 100,000 and it will be Rs 500,000 for an organization.
