Valley CDOs holding a meeting to further extend ongoing prohibitory orders

KATHMANDU, May 25: Chief District Officers (CDOs) of Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur are holding a meeting on Tuesday to further extend the ongoing prohibitory orders in the Kathmandu Valley.


The preparation to further extend the lockdown comes in the wake of COVID-19 infection rate in Kathmandu Valley not seeing significant decline even three weeks after the prohibitory orders were enforced. According to sources, the meeting of CDOs is expected to announce stricter prohibitory orders for a week.

With the issuance of COVID-19 Risk Management Ordinance, any individual who breaches the safety protocols enforced by the government in the federal capital may have to face a cash fine of up to Rs 500,000 and a jail term of one year.


If an individual breaches any clause of the ordinance, the government authorities concerned can charge a cash fine of Rs 100,000 and Rs 500,000 for an organization. President Bidya Devi Bhandari issued the ordinance on Friday.
