The British Foreign Secretary established the Rights Advisory Group on Tuesday to give him the best possible information about human rights challenges and input on British policy on human rights.[break]
Professor Subedi, a Nepali citizen, currently teaches at the University of Leeds, UK and is the UN Special Rapporteur for Cambodia.
Upon establishment of the group, the British Foreign Secretary said in a statement posted on the website of the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office, "Human rights are essential to and indivisible from the UK´s foreign policy priorities."
According to the statement, the individuals in the advisory panel have been invited in a personal capacity to provide external advice on human rights in foreign policy and on options for addressing human rights problems. The advisory group is chaired by Hague himself.
