The police started the alcohol control campaign because there were lots of cases of beating and insulting the members of the family after consuming alcohol. There used to be more cases of domestic violence against women especially after alcohol consumption by the male members of the family.

According to DSP Siddharaj Neupane, "The police have been active throughout the district to seize illegal liquor. With the liquor control campaign, there has been some reduction in domestic violence caused by liquor."

The police have actively conducted alcohol control and awareness programs in all nine local units including the district headquarters.
