Private sector to collaborate on Lamabagar-Barhabise 220 kV transmission line

KATHMANDU, Jan 2: The National Transmission Grid Company (NTGC) has announced collaboration with the private sector to construct the Lamabagar-Barhabise 220 kV transmission line. The company issued a notice inviting expression of interest from hydropower companies involved in projects in the Lapche Khola and Rolwaling Khola corridors. Interested companies have 15 days to submit applications, which must include a hydropower survey and production permit.

The project involves building a 43.7-kilometer transmission line and a substation, with an estimated cost of around Rs 5 billion. Netra Prasad Gyawali, CEO of the grid company, stated that a memorandum of understanding will be signed with the selected private companies, and a subsidiary will be formed to carry out the project. The grid company had previously engaged the private sector in the construction of the Tamor-Dhungesanghu 220 kV transmission line, which is currently under construction.
