KATHMANDU, Jan 6 : Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is scheduled to address the parliament today afternoon.

Kundan Aryal, the press advisor to Prime Minister Oli, told Republica Online that the prime will speak on multiple contemporary issues including the alleged anomalies in the procurement of the wide-body planes for the Nepal Airlines Corporation.

Oli is scheduled to address the House of Representatives at 1 pm.

During the parliament session, the prime minister will inform the parliament about the government's recent decision to form the high-level committee to look into the alleged anomalies in the procurement of the wide-body planes.

In its report last week, a sub-committee under the Public Account Committee of the Parliament, accused Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Rabindra Adhikari, former ministers Jitendra Narayan Dev and Jeevan Shahi and national flag carrier Managing Director Sugat Ratna Kansakar, among other top officials, of involvement in corruption over the wide-body aircraft procurement.

The committee had concluded that Rs 4.35 billion was embezzled while procuring aircraft for the national flag career.

During today's parliament session, the prime minister will reiterate the government's commitments to amend the constitution as demanded by the disgruntled Madhes-centric parties.

"Prime Minister Oli will tell the parliamentarians that the government has already started to deliver the promises made with the Madhes-based parties," Aryal said.

"As per its commitments with Madhes-centric parties, the government recently facilitated the swearing-in of the lawmaker-elect Resham Chaudhary at the parliament."
