KATHMANDU, May 7:  After the parliament failed to meet for two consecutive days following Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal´s resignation,  President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav  on Thursday consulted with Speaker of Parliament Subas Nembang on how a new prime minister can be appointed.

Speaker met with the president at the latter´s office in Shital Niwas and discused ways to end the deadlock in the parliament  that has averted possibility of making consensus for a new prime minister by Saturday deadline set by the president.

According to a source close to the president, the speaker has suggested the president to send the matter of prime minister´s election to parliament if the parties fail to come up with a consensual name by Saturday.

"We don´t have another way of electing the parliament except taking the matter to the parliament,|" said Nembang coming out of the meeting. “Regarding the appointment of a new prime minister, I informed the head-of-state about our statutory provisions and our tradition of appointing a prime minister."

The speaker has not been able to read out the president´s letter so far because of the Maoist lawmakers´ obstruction. As a result the parliament is still unaware of the prime minister´s resignation.
