KATHMANDU, May 3: President Bidya Devi Bhandari on Sunday summoned the budget session of the federal parliament for coming Friday.
Issuing a press release, Keshav Ghimire, a spokesperson for Sheetal Niwas, the President's Office, stated that the president had called the sessions of both the House of Representatives and National Assembly for May 8 in accordance with Article 93 (1) of the Constitution.
The meeting will be taking place at 4 pm at the federal parliament Building, New Baneswar. The budget session approves the government’s policies and programs and fiscal budget.

As per the constitutional provision, the government needs to present the fiscal budget on May 29 every year.
The new session of the federal parliament approves or rejects the bills tabled by the government in the last session. Also, new bills will be registered by the government at the House in the coming weeks.
Earlier today, the Cabinet recommended to President Bhandari to call the budget session of the Federal Parliament from May 8.
With the government's decision to hold the budget session later this week, people are hoping that the nationwide lockdown will also be eased. The ongoing lockdown will end on May 7, a day before the budget session of the parliament begins.
