KATHMANDU, March 1: The post-mortem report of the girl who died in a hostel in Chitwan is expected to be available by Monday.


After the family of the girl expressed doubts about conducting the post-mortem in Chitwan, the girl’s body was sent for a post-mortem to the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital in Kathmandu.


Ramesh Bista, a police inspector at the Tandi Area Police Office overseeing the investigation, said that it will take until Monday for the post-mortem report to be available. The investigation will then proceed based on the received report.

Bista informed Republica that the news circulating on social media is not accurate, stating that the actual post mortem report will be available on Monday.


The 14-year-old Shalin Pokhrel, who was living in the hostel of Ekta Shishu Niketan Boarding School in Ratnanagar Municipality-15, was found dead last Saturday morning.


Her body, found hanging by a rope from the ceiling fan in the hostel room, is currently at the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital in Maharajgunj, Kathmandu, for a postmortem.


Following the teenage girl’s death, her family filed a complaint of murder. After the complaint was received, the police arrested the principal of the school, Balhari Devkota, 60, the vice-principal, Kiran Bahadur Adhikari, 40, and the hostel warden, Kamal Sharma Paudel, 48, on Tuesday.


According to the order of the Chitwan District Court, they will be detained for seven days for investigations.
