Poll impossible unless resignation of CJ: NBA chair Karki

BHAKTAPUR, March 17: Chairman of the Nepal Bar Association (NBA), Hari Krishna Karki, has said that election would not be held in the country if Chairman of the Interim Election Council of Ministers, Khil Raj Regmi, does not resign from the post of Chief Justice.



At an interaction organized by the Rafat Sanchar Club in Bhaktapur, Karki said that NBA would continue the agitation, launched by it, until Regmi resigns from the CJ post.[break]



He clarified that the agitation launched by NBA is to keep the judiciary free, not to foil the election and demanded that CJ should resign from the post immediately as it is the only alternative.



Karki said that election would not be held unless Regmi resigns from the post of CJ as no one person should occupy two posts.



He stressed on the need of addressing demands of NBA and 22 political parties as election could not be held at a time when NBA and more than 22 political parties have launched agitation against the CJ-led government.
