KATHMANDU, Oct 17: A squad of Narcotics Control Bureau arrested a Polish national in possession of around 6.5 kg of hashish from the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA).

Joraszek Adrian Plotr (passport number-EE2367873), 39, was arrested on Wednesday while trying to smuggle the contraband to UK.  According to Inspector Ghanashyam Shrestha of the Narcotics Control Bureau at TIA, he was arrested during regular X-ray checking of luggage. He had packed the hashish in two false bottom suitcases. [break]

“The false bottom was expertly camouflaged to blend with the regular interior of the suitcases. We suspected him only because of his personal indicator and passport details.” Shrestha Said.

According to him, the arrested has visited several countries--Afghanistan, Cambodia, Thailand, India and many others - for no specific cause much alike other drug peddlers.

“He seems to have chosen this time assuming that the security check would be lax during festive season,” he added. He was to board a flight to Qatar via Qatar Air-Flight No QR-351 for Manchester UK. On Thursday, he was remanded to police custody for further investigation.
