Police officers awarded for heroically rescuing Captain Shakya

KATHMANDU, July 26: Six police personnel have been awarded for successfully rescuing Captain Manish Ratna Shakya from a precarious situation following the Saurya Airlines plane accident at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA).

KATHMANDU, July 26: Six police personnel have been awarded for successfully rescuing Captain Manish Ratna Shakya from a precarious situation following the Saurya Airlines plane accident at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA).


Dan Bahadur Karki, spokesperson and Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG), said that the Police Headquarters has awarded cash rewards to the police personnel who successfully rescued Captain Shakya safely from a dangerous situation.

According to Karki, Sukdev Khanal and Tanka Rawat, deputy superintendents of police (DSPs), along with police constables Shree Ram Pariyar, Karan Singh Chaisir, Bhim Prasad Gautam and Krishna Joshi have been awarded.


On July 24 at 11:11 AM morning, a plane of Saurya Airlines en route to Pokhara from Kathmandu crashed during takeoff. Eighteen of the 19 people on board, including Saurya Airlines employees, engineers, and their relatives, lost their lives. The only survivor was Captain Shakya.
