KATHMANDU, April 16:  The Nepal Police Cyber Bureau has issued a public notice urging people not to misuse Artificial Intelligence (AI) and social media platforms. In a statement released on Tuesday, the Bureau emphasized the importance of using technology positively and responsibly.

"With the increasing use of social media and AI, there has also been a noticeable rise in misuse, such as character assassination, creation and dissemination of obscene or offensive content, spreading misinformation, and manipulating music with inappropriate lyrics to harass individuals," the Bureau stated.

The Bureau warned that such actions not only harm an individual’s social reputation but also constitute punishable offenses under existing cyber laws. It called on the public to be cautious and ensure that the use of such technologies does not harm others.

"Think before you act, use technology in a way that respects others' dignity," the Bureau said.
