“More than 350 players will participate in the four day tournament,” Additional Inspector General of Police (AIG) Rabindra Pratap Shah said. “Total cost of the tournament is estimated at Rs 1.6 million, out of which Rs 4,72, 000 will be given away as cash prize.”
Man’s singles winner will purse cash prize of Rs 50,000 while woman’s single winner will take away Rs 40,000.
The tournament will be played in seven different categories, man’s and woman’s singles, man’s and woman’s doubles, veteran doubles, man’s and woman’s under-16 categories, according to NPTA.
Nepal Badminton Association (NBA) has approved the tournament as a national event and will provide the technical assistance.
“Players participating in this tournament will be given rating points as well," NBA president Prakash Bahadur Shahi said. "We will consider the event as one of basis to select players for the closed camp training for the South Asian games (SAG).”
All matches will be played at Nepal Police Club, Bhrikuti Mandap.
