KATHMANDU, Oct 9: Police seized around 20 kilograms of suspected illegally traded gold and arrested two Chinese nationals during a raid in Kathmandu’s Budhanilkantha area on Thursday.
A team from the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office conducted the raid following a tip-off, recovering the gold and machinery used to melt it.

According to police, the suspects had rented a house and allegedly used it to process gold brought from abroad in liquid form, melting it into bars for distribution.
Deputy Inspector General Govinda Thapaliya said the quantity was a preliminary estimate, with weighing and further details awaited.
Both suspects have been taken into custody for further investigation. Police said the exact quantity of gold and other details of the operation are yet to be confirmed.
