Police receive permission to keep Ashika Tamang in custody for 5 days

The Swayambhu police arrested Tamang on Wednesday afternoon and  sent her to Gaushala Police Circle. The District Administration Office, Kathmandu has given the police five days for further investigation into the matter, according to the Gaushala Police Circle.

KATHMANDU, Jan 16:  Police have received permission to detain social activist Ashika Tamang, who was arrested for indecent behavior, for five days for investigation.


The Swayambhu police arrested Tamang on Wednesday afternoon and  sent her to Gaushala Police Circle. The District Administration Office, Kathmandu has given the police five days for further investigation into the matter, according to the Gaushala Police Circle.

According to police, Tamang has been kept in custody for investigation based on a complaint from the Pashupati Area Development Trust on January 10.


The District Administration Office, Kathmandu, issued an arrest warrant against Tamang on January 12, on the charge of indecent behavior.


Recently, a video of Tamang abusing a female police officer at the Pashupati Area Development Trust complex has gone viral on social media. She has been posting videos on social media platforms like Facebook, claiming to be a social activist.
