Following a tip off, a team of Narcotics Control Bureau on June 13 arrested Shrestha´s two daughters and seized 36 ampoules of pharmaceutical drugs from their possession as they were dealing with customers at Pepsi Cola Chowk near the Town Planning. [break]
According to SSP Rana Bahadur Chanda of the Bureau, the police were keeping an eye on them after they were identified as Ghambhirman´s daughters.
Along with them, the other two arrested are Anil Shrestha, 18, of Chabahil and Sudip Ramdam, 17, of Melamchi, Sindhupalchok district.
Meanwhile, a squad of the Bureau on June 20 arrested Saraswati Biswokarma, 28, of Ratmate-5, Nuwakot district on the charge of possessing 9 gms of white heroin from Sukedhara in Kathmandu. She was later identified as the wife of Shree Ram Biswokarma, who had been arrested on the charge of possessing 99 gms of heroin three years ago. Two days before his arrest, one of his sisters Radhika Biswokarma had been arrested with 98 gms of heroin.
Few months ago, a married couple Rabin Shrestha, 27, and Sarita Thapa, 25, of Naya Bazaar, Kathmandu were handed a prison sentence for their involvement in trafficking various prescription drugs and narcotics.
Likewise, Nanu Phunyal, 55, was sent to jail for possessing and engaging in drugs trafficking. Her sons, Santosh, 30, and Sampurna, 28, became victims of drug addiction and were later charged with drug trafficking as well. Among the two, one of her sons is in prison and the other has been sent to a rehabilitation centre. The police also arrested her married daughter Puja from Koteshwor on the charge of possessing unauthorized pharmaceutical drugs.
Drugs trafficking via courier service
With the seizure of three coconuts stuffed with hashish that was about to be sent along with a parcel via courier´s service, police busted a racket of drug traffickers.
After Supreme Couriers located at Sundhara suspected a parcel containing three coconuts that was about to be sent to Hong Kong, purportedly, for rituals, the racket was busted. The police later identified that the parcel belonged to Krishna Prasad Shrestha, 47, of Gulmi district.
Shrestha had managed to pack 714 gms of hashish into the three coconuts and was involved in smuggling along with Sunil Tamang, 32, of Kavre district. The police have arrested Tamang, who had been supplying drugs to Hong Kong in connivance with the traffickers there.
Police also seized 2 kg of hashish, 200 gm of ganja, and 16 coconuts from Shrestha´s rented room at Sitapaila.
