Police beats Army to book final ticket

HETAUDA, Oct 31: The final of the Ncell 15th National Women Football Championship will be the clash of Police teams as Nepal Police defeated Nepal Army 3-0 on Thursday in the second semifinal played on Thursday at Gauritar in Hetauda, Makawanpur.



Armed Police Force (APF) has already booked final ticket with a 17-0 thumping over Kailali in the first semifinal played on Wednesday at Kirtipur, Nawalparasi. The final of two Police teams will be held on Friday in Hetauda. [break]



On Thursday, Niru Thapa, skipper Chandra Bhandari and Rupa Magar netted one apiece in Police´s comfortable win over Army.

Thapa put Police ahead as early as in the 14th minute while Bhandari doubled advantage in the injury time of first half. Magar ensured the victory with third goal in the 72nd minute.



Army also created few chances but failed to utilize them. Army could have equalized the score in the 38th minute but skipper Deepa Adhikar shot at the crossbar. Though Army tired to bounce back in the second half, the stubborn defense line up of Police consisting Ghim Kumari Gurung and Amrita Jaisi was too strong.
