Four arrested while carrying 50 kg marijuana on their heads

Based on a tip-off, a team of police officials nabbed four people at 9:30 pm on Tuesday while they were attempting to transport the contraband via a canal road around 500 metres west of the main road at Harapatgunj area of Birgunj Metropolitan City-20.

KATHMANDU, Jan 8: Police have arrested four people carrying 50 kilogram marijuana on their heads in Parsa on Tuesday night. 


Based on a tip-off, a team of police officials nabbed four people at 9:30 pm on Tuesday while they were attempting to transport the contraband via a canal road around 500 metres west of the main road at Harapatgunj area of Birgunj Metropolitan City-20.

According to the District Police Office (DPO), Parsa, the individuals have been identified as Paras Yadav, 40, and Mainadin Miya, 52, of Bahudarmai Municipality-1; Abakar Miya, 36, and Shiva Mahato, 45, of Bahadurmai Municipality-7. 


Spokesperson for the DPO, DSP Kishor Lamsal, informed Republica the four individuals were carrying the marijuana in four different red-colored plastic sacks concealed in another plastic sack. He added that preliminary investigation has revealed that the four were carriers of the drug, rather than the kingpin smugglers.
