Police and students clash at Tri Chandra Campus on the eve of FSU election

KATHMANDU, March 18: Agitating students and police personnel have engaged in a clash at Tri-Chandra Multiple Campus in Kathmandu.


After All Nepal National Free Students Union (ANNFSU) locked the election officer's office, the students affiliated to Nepal Student Union (NSU) staged a protest against the move. A clash ensued between the police personnel and agitating students as police personnel on duty tried to control the crowd.

According to a NSU leader, the clash ensued after police personnel arrived at the place where they were staging a protest and attacked them with batons, leading to injuries to some of the students while the nomination papers were being distributed.


FSU elections, which have not been held regularly for the past 14 years, will be held on Sunday. The voting for the FSU elections will be held on campuses across the country from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.


Elections held every two years have not been held regularly since 2009. FSU elections were held on March 28, 2017 for the first time in eight years after March 19, 2009.
